Film Transfer

  • Crystal clear projector lens to -> camera lens to -> computer (for editing) to -> DVD transfer.  We do NOT project to a screen or wall.  A pleasant music track is included.
  • Film is gently cleaned of lint using air so as not to scratch the delicate emulsion of the film. Broken film is spliced before transfer although film can break during transfer.
  • Our Sony High Definition Camera is used to capture the film employing automatic white balancing.  We further enhance the colors once it is on the computer.
  • Our specially modified telecine projectors eliminate flicker caused by standard projectors.  As the film never stops you are assured of a smooth picture transfer unlike the stopping and starting of Frame by Frame.

      Before                                                      After

  • We match the audio signal strength from projector to camera, and we duplicate channels for a stereo effect.
  • We edit out black space and "error" shots.  We brighten dark film and darken over-exposed film.  Color saturation and tint changes are also used during editing.  We scale in the video, removing the overscan area so you see all of the original film.  This is not possible when going from camera to -> VHS Tape to -> DVD which causes some picture loss around the edges.
  • DVD is encoded using interlace method.  This allows for your HDMI DVD players with line doubling progressive capability to show the video in High Definition.
  • Also available is a copy of the raw video file for High Definition or Standard copied to your external Hard Drive for your own editing purposes.
  • Pricing:  8 mm or Super 8 film at 44 cents per foot.  Minimum order is $75.  Call for quantity discount.
  • Place a number on your film reels in the order that you want them transferred.
  • Supply a picture for us to scan for the label of your custom DVD (optional).
